Brisbane introduces Australia’s ‘first-of-its-kind’ electric bus
A new state-of-the-art, fully-electric Metro bus has been revealed by Brisbane city council ahead of a pilot trial in 2020.
The Metro vehicle is a three-compartment single-decker bus that runs entirely on battery power with zero tailpipe emission and features flash charging.
A short CGI video was shared, which the outside and inside of the modern-looking bus. There will be capacity for 150 passengers, a separate driver compartment, on-board Wi-Fi, and USB charging points. It is said to be the first vehicle of its kind in Australia.
Brisbane city council is looking to deliver high-capacity and high-frequency Metro services along dedicated busways and will begin a pilot in 2020, and full services commencing in 2023.
