Who we are?

I am José Miguel Fernández Gómez, CEO of Advanced Fleet Management Consulting. Since 2007, I have been working in the field of vehicle fleet management.

I worked as a fleet manager at URBASER  for five years, managing a fleet of 1,000 vehicles that were used in road cleaning operations in Madrid. This fleet included different types of vehicles such as industrial vehicles, vans, cars and road sweepers.

I then started providing my services as an independent consultant in fleet management consultancy and training projects, working with companies of different types and sizes in various countries and sectors, providing my services in both Spanish and English languages.

Since 2014 I have worked as a consultant for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees UNHCR, undertaking international fleet management auditing and consultancy projects (6,000 vehicles) across 100 different countries.

I’ve undertaken this project with two different companies: first, with the best business school in France, INSEAD, and second, with the Canadian consultancy firm UNIVERSALIA.

I have worked as a consultant for the World Health Organization, undertaking international fleet management auditing and consultancy projects

I participate in and organise congresses, conferences and events related to fleet management in collaboration with the Spanish Transport Association , of which I am a member of the advisory committee. I am also a lecturer of fleet management at the Spanish Confederation of Goods Transport (CETM).

I hold an international doctorate in Industrial Engineering from The Technical University of Madrid (UPM), completing research stays at the University of Liverpool (United Kingdom) and the Royal Institute of Technology-KTH (Sweden).

I’m also a qualified Industrial Engineer and an Industrial Mechanics Engineer, and also hold a Master’s degree in Operations Management, Quality and Technological Innovation from the CEPADE business school, and another Master’s degree in Organisation Engineering and Industrial Management from The Technical University of Madrid (UPM).

Several of my articles have been published in indexed journals, and I have also delivered speeches in international industrial engineering congresses. I’ve also been part of the scientific committee, with examples given below.
