Towards the end of 2020, we saw the rise of \u2018My MBUX\u2019 with <a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.carmagazine.co.uk\/car-reviews\/mercedes-benz\/s-class-saloon\/\">the new S-Class<\/a>, introducing new features like 3D-effect dials, an augmented-reality head-up display and biometric security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">As Mercedes gears up for introducing its all-electric flagship, the EQS, later in 2021, the brand is teasing us first with its version of the MBUX technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.carmagazine.co.uk\/electric\/mercedes-benz\/\"><strong>Mercedes&#8217; electric plans explained<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Cool name\u2026<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">And quite the piece of kit. Three OLED screens (one for the driver\u2019s instruments, one large central control panel and another for the passenger) are tied together in a single curved panel, with two physical air vents acting as bookends. Haptic feedback is incorporated, too, with 12 actuators beneath the touchscreen. Mercedes says that key controls and switches (if you could call them that) aren\u2019t hidden behind menus \u2013 all of the essential functions are a single tap away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">If you want to get really nerdy, the system\u2019s hardware includes eight CPU cores and 24GB of RAM \u2013 details with such large numbers you\u2019d only hear about if you bought a massively powerful (and expensive) gaming PC.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">So, it\u2019s just a big screen?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Arguably, yes, but Mercedes says there\u2019s more to it than that. Merc\u2019s chief technical officer, Sajjad Khan, says Hyperscreen is \u2018at the same time the brain and nervous system of the car.\u2019 How? Through artificial intelligence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/car-images.bauersecure.com\/pagefiles\/100147\/1040x0\/mbuxhyperscreen_53.jpg?scale=down\" alt=\"MBUX hyperscreen dials\" data-interchange=\"[https:\/\/car-images.bauersecure.com\/pagefiles\/100147\/480x0\/mbuxhyperscreen_53.jpg?scale=down, (default)], [https:\/\/car-images.bauersecure.com\/pagefiles\/100147\/720x0\/mbuxhyperscreen_53.jpg?scale=down, (medium)], [https:\/\/car-images.bauersecure.com\/pagefiles\/100147\/1040x0\/mbuxhyperscreen_53.jpg?scale=down, (large)]\" data-uuid=\"interchange-kk3vllv06\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The key software difference here compared to other versions of MBUX is an evolution of AI. Mercedes says the system is designed to notice patterns or habits in your driving behaviours, saying Hyperscreen has \u2018context-sensitive awareness.\u2019 While essential controls are always front and centre, certain driving behaviours or habits the car is made aware of over time will mean it starts to suggest or even perform certain functions for you before you even think about it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Mercedes claims in some suggested use cases that the system will suggest the \u2018hot stone\u2019 massage function during winter months if it\u2019s noticed that you regularly switch it on during that time for example. Or, if you always call someone at a certain time or on a specific day while you\u2019re driving, it\u2019ll remember to suggest doing that at roughly the same time again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.carmagazine.co.uk\/car-news\/tech\/mercedes-mbux-infotainment-voice-control\/\"><strong>Mercedes MBUX voice control: does it work?<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The brand also confirmed that the EQS will come with suspension that can raise itself \u2013 most likely air suspension with E-Active Body Control like the S-Class. If it notices you use the vehicle lift function over a large speed bump or over to access a steep driveway, it\u2019ll log the GPS position and do it for you the next time you approach it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">When will Hyperscreen debut?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">As we\u2019ve mentioned, we\u2019ll see the new infotainment system\u2019s first application in the new EQS electric car that arrives later in 2021.
