Chinese BEV manufacturer NIO has launched it\u2019s first production autonomous driving technology suite boasting a massive 33-sensor array.<\/span><\/p>\n

Its Aquila Super Sensing suite debuting in its ET7 flagship executive cruiser, scheduled for shipment next year, will feature including 11 8MP high-resolution cameras, one ultralong-range high-resolution LiDAR, five-millimetre wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, two high-precision positioning units, V2X and ADMS. However, the automaker has yet to make any claims over the level of autonomy the suite will boast when it comes to market beyond saying it should bring \u201csafer and more relaxing autonomous driving from point A to point B, gradually covering use cases such as expressway, urban driving, parking, and battery swap\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The automaker is still the only one operating a full swap-out battery option on its vehicles in the areas of China where it has highway service stations able to change over customers\u2019 batteries for fully charged one in a matter of minutes. The ET7 boasts a 180-kW permanent magnet motor in the front and a 300-kW induction motor in the rear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maximum power is rated at 643bhp with peak torque at 626ft-lbs enabling a claimed 0 to 62mph sprint in 3.9 seconds plus a stopping distance of 108 feet from that speed. With a 70-kWh battery pack, the ET7 claims a NEDC range of more than 310 miles, more than 435 miles with a 100-kWh battery and 620 miles with the range-topping 150 kWh battery pack.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ET7\u2019s quoted domestic price tag without government subsidy starts from RMB 448,000 ($68,583) or from RMB 378,000 ($57,867)with BaaS (Battery as a Service).<\/span><\/p>\n
