{"id":9338,"date":"2021-01-17T11:51:37","date_gmt":"2021-01-17T10:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/advancedfleetmanagementconsulting.com\/eng\/?p=9338"},"modified":"2021-01-17T11:51:37","modified_gmt":"2021-01-17T10:51:37","slug":"amazon-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/advancedfleetmanagementconsulting.com\/eng\/2021\/01\/17\/amazon-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon Dives into Vehicle Data with BlackBerry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"first_paragraph\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Digital retail giant Amazon is eyeing up the automotive data market by teaming up with BlackBerry in a bid to develop an \u2018intelligent\u2019 vehicle data platform.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The security software specialist and Amazon Web Services have announced a multi-year, global agreement to develop and market\u00a0BlackBerry\u2019s IVY platform claiming it will allow automakers to read vehicle sensor data, normalize it and create actionable insights in the vehicle and in the cloud.\u00a0 Automakers could capitalize on the information by responding to driver and passenger demands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The platform claims to bring together all the various sources of data in a modern vehicle by employing machine learning to generate predictive insights and inferences for the vehicle occupants making it possible for automakers to offer highly personalized experiences. It will run inside a vehicle\u2019s embedded systems but will be managed and configured remotely from the cloud.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">For example, the platform could use vehicle data to recognize driver behavior and hazardous conditions such as icy roads or heavy traffic and then recommend that a driver enable relevant vehicle safety features such as traction control, lane-keeping assist, or adaptive cruise control. Additionally, drivers of EVs could choose to share their car\u2019s battery information with third-party charging networks to reserve a charging connector and tailor charging time according to the driver\u2019s current location and travel plans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Automakers could compress the timeline to build, deploy, and monetize new in-vehicle applications and connected services across multiple vehicle brands and models. In addition, the platform claims to make it easier for automakers to collaborate with a wider pool of developers to accelerate creation of new offerings that deliver improved vehicle performance, reduced costs for maintenance and repairs, and added convenience<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">John Chen, executive chairman and CEO of BlackBerry, said: \u201cData and connectivity are opening new avenues for innovation in the automotive industry, and BlackBerry and AWS share a common vision to provide automakers and developers with better insights so that they can deliver new services to consumers.
