New collaboration through the EC\u2019s Freight and Goods Delivery Electrification Project will demonstrate a scalable transition to electric trucks.<\/p>\n

The Electrification Coalition (EC) is partnering with Nestl\u00e9 to support the company\u2019s pilot freight electrification plan, beginning with the deployment of electric trucks on a 20-mile short-haul route in Ohio that will serve as a critical public-private pilot program to accelerate electrified freight at scale. Nestl\u00e9 announced the freight electrification pilot plan today<\/a> as part of the company\u2019s time-bound, detailed plan to halve emissions by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.<\/p>\n

In this new partnership, the EC aims to identify and support Nestl\u00e9 in the U.S. to establish the freight pilot and consider barriers and policy options to benefit its freight electrification efforts. It will also advocate for other pathways to facilitate the deployment of electrified freight and goods delivery vehicles and EV charging infrastructure. The EC leverages national technical expertise and long-standing relationships within the electric vehicle (EV) industry, utilities, and state and local partners to provide effective planning, deployment, and operation efforts related to electrified freight and goods delivery vehicles and EV charging infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Electrification Coalition applauds Nestl\u00e9\u2019s leadership and commitment to move toward an electrification future that will meet their operational and sustainability goals,\u201d said Ben Prochazka, National Director of the EC. \u201cWe are excited to partner with the largest food company in the world to create a first stage deployment of medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks. The future of freight and goods movement is going to be electric and we look forward to working together to accelerate the pathway to freight electrification at scale.\u201d<\/p>\n

The EC\u2019s Freight and Goods Delivery Electrification Project<\/a> advances the electrification of the freight industry in the United States through pilot programs and policies that will help accelerate the electric transition. The freight sector presents a unique opportunity to realize the widespread benefits of transportation electrification.<\/p>\n

Recently, the EC issued a report, Electrifying Freight: Pathways to Accelerating the Transition<\/a>, that identifies solutions and actions that industry stakeholders should take to help speed up the electric future of our freight transportation system.<\/p>\n
