By 2050, nearly all cars, vans, buses as well as new heavy-duty vehicles will be zero-emission.\u00a0It is written on the \u2018Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy\u2019<\/a>\u00a0presented yesterday by the European Commission together with\u00a0<\/span>an Action Plan of 82 initiatives that will guide EU work for the next four years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The result, according to plans, will be a 90% cut in emissions by 2050<\/strong>, delivered by a smart, competitive, safe, accessible and affordable transport system.<\/p>\n

According to the timetable set by the EU, by 2030\u00a0<\/strong>at least 30 million zero-emission cars will be in operation on European roads, and\u00a0100 European cities will be climate neutral. It is mentioned that \u00abscheduled collective travel for journeys under 500 km should be carbon neutral\u00bb. By 2050 \u00abnearly all cars, vans, buses as well as new heavy-duty vehicles will be zero-emission\u00bb.<\/p>\n

EU Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy and transport<\/h2>\n

As mentioned above, the\u00a0strategy identifies a total of 82 initiatives in 10 key areas for action (\u201cflagships\u201d), each with concrete measures.\u00a0For transport<\/strong> to become sustainable, in practice this means, according to the plan:<\/p>\n
