{"id":8630,"date":"2020-12-01T16:20:55","date_gmt":"2020-12-01T15:20:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/advancedfleetmanagementconsulting.com\/eng\/?p=8630"},"modified":"2020-12-01T16:22:38","modified_gmt":"2020-12-01T15:22:38","slug":"hydrogen-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/advancedfleetmanagementconsulting.com\/eng\/2020\/12\/01\/hydrogen-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Twenty hydrogen buses coming to Birmingham next Spring"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"field field-name-body\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Birmingham City Council has purchased 20 new hydrogen double decker buses as part of their Clean Air Hydrogen Bus Pilot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The buses, which are made by Wrightbus and are the world&#8217;s first zero-emission hydrogen fuel-cell double deckers, will be introduced with National Express West Midlands from April 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">It\u2019s intended that pilot will be the catalyst for the next generation of hydrogen buses, hydrogen production and re-fuelling infrastructure development. The council have also collaborated with ITM, who will be producing and dispensing the hydrogen fuel from the new re-fuelling hub at Tyseley Energy Park.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Hydrogen buses consume four times less fuel in comparison to standard diesel buses, covering 300 miles on a single tank and with the ability to refuel within 7-10 minutes. They emit water vapour, meaning no carbon dioxide or other harmful gases are being pumped in to the air.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">The buses are a key step towards achieving the council\u2019s net zero carbon target, with each bus expected to save up to 79.3 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per annum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Birmingham City Council\u2019s Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, Councillor Waseem Zaffar said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted that we will be introducing hydrogen buses to Birmingham next year.
