The fourth-generation Octavia is being launched with two alternative powertrains: plug\u2011in hybrid and mild hybrid.<\/span>

\nBoth the Octavia iV and Octavia vRS iV feature plug-in hybrid drive and provide an electric range of up to 37 miles in the WLTP cycle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The e-TEC is equipped with mild hybrid technology: The TSI petrol engines in these models are electrified by a 48-V belt-driven starter motor and a 48-V lithium-ion battery.<\/span><\/p>\n

Christian Strube, \u0160KODA AUTO Board Member for Technical Development, said, \u201cWhen developing the new Octavia, we focused from the outset on considerably reducing the amount of aerodynamic drag as well as the CO2 and NOx emissions even further. As a result, the choice of powertrains available for the new Octavia is greater than ever before. The car can be ordered as an e-TEC that features the new mild hybrid technology or as one of two iV plug-in hybrids. This way, we have achieved a significant boost in efficiency and sustainability, as well as the highest level of functionality and versatility. This means that the OCTAVIA, now in its fourth generation, impresses by providing just what our customers cherish so much.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Octavia iV and Octavia vRS iV both feature a high-voltage lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 37 Ah and providing 13 kWh. In electric driving mode at speeds of up to 30mph, the E-noise sound generator fitted under the right front wing produces a specific noise, helping pedestrians and cyclists to hear the electric Octavia iV sooner and more easily.<\/span><\/p>\n

Overall, CO2 emissions amount to only about 30 g\/km. The battery can be charged using a standard household plug socket or wall box. From a 230-V socket, it takes 3 hours 45 minutes to recharge from 0 to 80 per cent and 5 hours to reach 100 per cent. When using a 3.6-kW wall box, it takes just 2 hours 33 minutes for the battery to arrive at 80 per cent of its capacity and 3 hours 33 minutes to fully recharge.<\/span><\/p>\n
