It\u2019s a Power Capacitor. <\/strong><\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong> High energy density 23680 hybrid power capacitor cells reach production milestone.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Battery energy storage is one of the holy grails. While there is a lot of focus on energy density, in reality, a practical battery must score well on many fronts. The best solution today is not a battery nor a supercapacitor but a hybrid device combining the best of all. That\u2019s what makes it exceptional.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We call it Carbon-based Hybrid Power Capacitors. The <strong>23680 cylindrical cells<\/strong> are optimised for energy storage and have the following specifications:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Energy density: 230 Wh\/kg, 488 Wh\/l<\/li>\n<li>Power density: 287 W\/kg (1,25 C rating, peak 2 C)<\/li>\n<li>&gt; 10000 cycles lifetime (or &gt; 10 years or &gt; 1 million km) (depends on application profile)<\/li>\n<li>Safe (will not start a fire),<\/li>\n<li>Operates from -40\u00b0C to +80\u00b0C<\/li>\n<li>No BMS needed<\/li>\n<li>No active thermal management needed<\/li>\n<li>Can be charged to 75% in about 35 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><img class=\"wp-image-31790 lazy loaded alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/kurt.energy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/powercapacitor-cells-300x120.png\" alt=\"\" data-src=\"https:\/\/kurt.energy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/powercapacitor-cells-300x120.png\" data-was-processed=\"true\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, carbon-based power capacitors are upto 10 times more environmentally friendly. Carbon-based Power Capacitors have less problematic raw materials and a much longer lifetime than traditional li-ion cells. As a result, battery packs have one of the lowest cost per kWh\/cycle over the operational life.\u00a0<strong>Blue Cell Power lasts a lifetime. <\/strong>T.U. While the 18650 cells can handle very high currents (and even beyond the datasheets as our stress and abuse tests have demonstrated), a balanced design will remain between 5 to 10C. Typical applications are UPS, grid stabilisation and hybrid propulsion drives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To assist in the dimensioning exercise, a real 20Sx20P (25Ah\/50V) battery pack was tested from 0.1 C to 19.5C and the discharging curves recorded.
