The cost of charging electric vehicles around the world has been revealed, with the UK coming in 10th out of a list of 50 countries ranked from most the least expensive, according to new research <\/a>from Uswitch.com, the comparison and switching service.<\/span><\/p>\n

The most expensive country to charge an electric vehicle is Denmark, followed by Germany and Belgium.<\/span><\/p>\n

The data analysis uses statistics from the World Energy Council and ZapMap to calculate the cost per charge based on an average annual mileage of 10,000 and an average charging time of four hours for a standard electric vehicle.<\/span><\/p>\n

To calculate the results, the research looked at the cost per KWh for 50 different countries, the average mileage per driver and miles per full charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

The table below shows the top 10 countries by EV charging cost, giving the annual cost per vehicle associated with travelling 10,000 miles:<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking of the study, Sarah Broomfield, energy expert at Uswitch said: \u201cThe use of electric vehicles has clear environmental benefits but for many consumers, the choice to move to EVs can be hindered by perceptions about how much it will cost to charge.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis research shows that, while the costs are not insignificant, the UK is in a strong position compared to countries like Denmark where the price of electricity makes the cost of a charge so much higher.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, as well as the cost savings of rapid charging points, we also encourage consumers to regularly review their own energy tariffs to ensure they\u2019re getting the best deal possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
