{"id":5159,"date":"2020-04-13T13:12:09","date_gmt":"2020-04-13T11:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/advancedfleetmanagementconsulting.com\/eng\/?p=5159"},"modified":"2020-04-13T13:12:09","modified_gmt":"2020-04-13T11:12:09","slug":"battery-storage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/advancedfleetmanagementconsulting.com\/eng\/2020\/04\/13\/battery-storage\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercedes-Benz to create second life battery storage system for China\u2019s energy grid"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Mercedes-Benz to create second life battery storage system for China\u2019s energy grid<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">In an initiative to help support the Chinese power grid, Mercedes-Benz Energy has partnered with Beijing Electric Vehicle to create an energy storage system that uses old electric car batteries.<\/span><ins id=\"revive-0-2\" data-revive-zoneid=\"74\" data-revive-ct0=\"%c\" data-revive-id=\"6aafa29326b86ed2fe63762e441a303b\" data-revive-seq=\"2\" data-revive-loaded=\"1\"><\/ins><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">With China being one of the world\u2019s largest electric vehicle producers, Daimler AG\u2019s subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Energy has partnered with one of the country\u2019s biggest manufacturers, Beijing Electric Vehicle, which has over 420,000 BEVs on the market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Thanks to BJEV\u2019s large pool of batteries for second-life applications, the two companies intend to set up and test the first second-life energy storage system for a sustainable renewable energy development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">With extensive tests and simulations, the Mercedes-Benz Energy engineers will demonstrate in the coming months how electric automotive storage units will in future also be able to support the Chinese power grid efficiently and sustainably with regard to fluctuation and power outage management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cThe extension of regenerative and thus high-fluctuation energy production is rapidly increasing worldwide. The tendency towards increasing distances between the site of energy production and the site of energy consumption also means huge challenges for today\u2019s energy grids.
