{"id":3818,"date":"2019-12-09T16:41:56","date_gmt":"2019-12-09T15:41:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en.advancedfleetmanagementconsulting.com\/?p=3818"},"modified":"2019-12-09T16:41:56","modified_gmt":"2019-12-09T15:41:56","slug":"3818","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/advancedfleetmanagementconsulting.com\/eng\/2019\/12\/09\/3818\/","title":{"rendered":"Trans-Atlantic JV Details Battery-Electric and Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Truck Plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center\">Trans-Atlantic JV Details Battery-Electric and Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Truck Plans<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">At the Dec. 3 presser, the partners showed off a model of the battery electric Nikola Tre, which is based on the Iveco S-Way\u00a0platform and integrates Nikola\u2019s truck technology, controls, and infotainment system.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Iveco Trucks and its sister firm, FPT Industrial, along with Nikola Corp. discussed the scope of the joint venture and collaboration agreement under which they plan develop hydrogen fuel-cell and battery-electric trucks for the European market at a Dec. 3 press conference in Turin, Italy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The jv agreement, inked in Septmber, is technically between Phoenix-based <a href=\"https:\/\/nikolamotor.com\/\">Nikola Motor Co.<\/a> and CNH Industrial N.V.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnhindustrial.com\/en-us\/Pages\/homepage.aspx\">CNHI<\/a>, based in the Netherlands, is the parent of Italy-based truck maker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iveco.com\/Pages\/Iveco-brands.html\">Iveco\u00a0S.p.A.<\/a> and powertrain supplier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fptindustrial.com\/global\/en\">FPT Industrial<\/a>. The deal includes a $250 million investment in Nikola by CNH.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In a Sept. 3 news release, the two partners stated that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.truckinginfo.com\/329676\/nikola-unveils-nikola-two-hydrogen-electric-hybrid-truck\">Nikola\u2019s zero-emission heavy-duty trucks<\/a>, powered by proprietary hydrogen fuel cell and battery technology, will be the first such vehicles to go into production. Further, they contended that Nikola\u2019s \u201cdisruptive business model foresees an industry-first \u2018all-in\u2019 lease rate, which includes vehicle, service, maintenance and fuel costs, providing long-term total cost of ownership certainty at or below diesel costs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Under the agreement, Iveco and FPT Industrial will provide engineering and manufacturing expertise to help put into production Nikola\u2019s fuel-cell and battery electric trucks: The Nikola One, a North American Class 8 sleeper truck; the Nikola Two, a North American Class 8 daycab; and the Nikola Tre, a European cabover heavy-duty truck.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">At the Dec. 3 presser, the partners showed off a model of the battery electric <a href=\"https:\/\/www.truckinginfo.com\/329743\/new-hybrid-trucks-introduced-at-nikola-world-photos?photo=329894\">Nikola Tre<\/a>, which is based on the Iveco S-Way platform and integrates Nikola\u2019s truck technology, controls, and infotainment system.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Testing of the Tre is expected to begin in mid-2020, the companies said, with a European public launch planned for the IAA 2020 commercial vehicle show in Hanover, Germany.
