Small businesses are still relying on dated reporting structures to manage fleets<\/h3>\n

We continue to meet\u00a0a number of smaller fleet operators, and occasionally\u00a0larger ones,\u00a0that are still\u00a0heavily reliant on managing their fleets through traditional spreadsheet and paper-based reporting methods. Whilst this method may have\u00a0proved efficient\u00a0in previous years, technological advances\u00a0mean that operating in such a way could be leaving these fleets at risk.<\/p>\n

Spreadsheets and similar reporting methods can only provide a fleet manager with a basic overview\u00a0of their fleet and having a full grasp of an operation can prove tricky.\u00a0Data needs to manually inputted\u00a0which is not only\u00a0an administrative heavy task in itself but\u00a0costly in terms of time, resources and\u00a0the potential for data entry errors. Safe to say, using such methods as a primary management tool is a dated, high risk process with numerous limitations.<\/p>\n

Even the most basic of fleet management software solutions such as FleetWave Core<\/a> allows\u00a0access to relevant data that can be\u00a0utilized\u00a0to support much more informed business decisions. Automated processes increase accuracy of the data within a\u00a0system and real-time fleet reporting<\/a>\u00a0helps track\u00a0compliance and legal requirements for\u00a0auditing\u00a0purposes.<\/p>\n

This provides a much more holistic\u00a0approach towards fleet\u00a0management, allowing\u00a0access to all business information within one central system.<\/p>\n

\u201cFleets running hundreds or more vehicles using spreadsheets or paper-based methods are going to struggle to deliver the levels of data and reporting structures often needed to effectively manage areas such as cost control and compliance,\u201d said David Gladding, Global Director of Sales and Marketing at Chevin Fleet Solutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsing such methods is a high-risk strategy that can prove slow, costly and hard to audit.
